The World Warm Athletics Championship 2022 starts in Colombia

Today in Bogota (Colombia) the World Warm Athletics Championship starts.

537 athletes (270 women and 267 men) from 93 countries will take part in the competition, reports IWF.

Turkmenistan at this tournament will be presented by 7 athletes.

The male team included Bunyad Rashidov (weight category up to 67 kg), Maksad Meredov (up to 73 kg), Rejepbay Rejepov (up to 81 kg), Shatlyk Shohradov (up to 89 kg), Shahzadbek Matyakubov (up to 89 kg) and Davranbek Hasanbayev (up to 102 kg). Only Anamjan Rustamova (up to 81 kg) will be part of the female team.

World-2022 championship will last until December 16.

Throughout the history of the World Athletics World Championships, only 2 athletes from Turkmenistan were awarded the title of Champions.

In 1993, having debuted under the flag of Turkmenistan at international competitions, the Altymurad Orazdurdyev won the gold medal of the World Cup in Melbourne in the weight category up to 76 kg (in a jerk raised 167,5 kg, and in a push of 202,5 kg.
